Staring at a blank screen, stuck for an idea for a social media post?
Each of us, no matter how experienced, will find ourselves looking at a blank screen struggling to find something to write. Often referred to as writer’s block.
A common mistake is to try to create perfect content from the start. In reality, a rough first draft is far more valuable than no draft at all. You can always revise it later, but you can’t edit a blank page.
It also helps to start anywhere other than the beginning. The introduction is often the hardest part to write because it sets the tone for everything that follows. Instead, begin with fleshing out the idea that comes most readily to mind. Once the bulk of the content is in place then you can think about the opening and craft something that fits.
Still struggling? A change of environment may be just enough to unlock new ideas, stepping away from the screen for a short time or a simple distraction will give your subconscious the space to work.
More often than not, you will find that the block dissolves once the words begin to flow.
The words are always there, sometimes they simply just need a little encouragement to appear on the page!
Of course, you could also come up with some vague ideas and let AI do the hard work for you!
